DECORATING: sneak peek!

9 Feb

(click to open) here’s a sneak peek of a project i’m working on! i’m using colourful combinations of red, orange and blue tones to create bold impact for a child’s bedroom – these colours are opposites on the colour wheel and will always intensify eachother. to tone it down a bit, i’m using grey as a neutral to balance out the brightness of the other colours. great vintage finds will add character to the space, and the prints will offer up yet another layer of graphic interest.

complementary colours + layers of multi-patterns = fun, fun, fun!

DIY-ING: warhol-inspired v-day gift

for a gift that you can display even after valentine’s day is over, i’ve made a really fun + artsy print – a la warhol!
and in this era of gadgets and tech galore, why not utilize an iphone app to create wonderful mini works of art? it’s super easy, too.
today i was fiddling around with a bunch of great apps, but the 2 that i’ve used for the large print are: BeFunkyFx – to create the thick “cartoon-y” outline; then i uploaded that image into Pop Art Lite – where the warhol magic begins (and yes, these apps are free!).

you can also manipulate the contrast and temperature levels (in other programs) to further the overall graphics. once you feel it’s complete, print it out + pop it in a frame!
i chose a silly photo of us wearing sombreros, to intensify our “characters” and the whole pop art concept. i think i’m going to write a cute note at the bottom of the border before i give it away 🙂
